On August 3 this year, Tig Notaro announced that she had cancer in the form of a bold new comedy routine. In her own words, she “was expecting an awkward, quiet show,” but instead got major buzz when several comedians said it was one of the greatest comedy sets of all time, treating a very serious subject with delicate care but great hilarity. Louis CK even said “In 27 years doing this, I’ve seen a handful of truly great, masterful standup sets. One was Tig Notaro last night.”
Now, Louis CK is offering the audio recording for sale on his website. You can order it here for a mere five bucks. I’ve ordered it myself – four of those dollars going directly to Tig to help her fight the cancer mean even we sarcastic, bitter people can be supportive.
We wish Tig luck. Maybe she’ll have an upcoming Stand-Up Tuesday spotlight.
Do you think the comedy set is as good as the praise suggests? Let us know in the comments below.
