The NFL tweeted earlier today, confirming that on February 3, 2013, Beyonce Knowles will step onto the field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana to perform at the Super Bowl XLVII half-time show.

CBS, who received $550,000 in fines for mistakenly airing Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction in 2004, will be broadcasting the event for the first time since the alleged accident.

Additionally, according to The Washington Post, this is the first time a young female artist will headline the event since 2004’s wardrobe malfunction which caused the NFL to take over half-time production.

With that said, it’ll be nice to see a younger, more lively show this year. With the exception of the Black Eyed Peas in recent years, the slew of geriatric nostalgia artists from yesteryear (Madonna, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney) were getting a bit old.

Let Under The Gun Review know what you think of Beyonce as CBS’s half-time choice in the comments below.
