DAMMIT: Scissor Sisters Going On Hiatus

Of all the Top40 groups to grace UTG over the last five years, few have received the outpouring of love that our staff and readers have shown the Scissor Sisters. From the days they didn’t feel like dancing, to the nights only horses could find us, this New York based glam act redefined the way we think about pop music and we’re forever grateful that. Unfortunately, it appears the time has come to say goodbye (for now).

While performing in London last night, front woman Ana Matronic set social networks on fire when she uttered the following lines:

“This will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time…..The ones who got us first – and always get us best.

Adding fuel to the rumors, Matronic would not deny hiatus rumors when speaking in an interview of plans to work on her comic book, opting instead to say:

“Don’t you worry – this isn’t the last you’ve heard of us.”

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that NME jumps to conclusions almost as often as we use HOLY SH!T as a headline, but it seems the music publication is right when it comes to Scissor Sisters’ plans to disappear for awhile. Taking to their official facebook after the story broke this morning, frontman Jake Shears posted:

Thank you London for all your love. And don’t worry, we’re not going away forever. We’ll be back before you know it. With bells on. Love u J

We are keeping our eyes and ears peeled for an official announcement, which we expect to surface in the coming days. When updates are available, we’ll be sure to make another news post. Until then, click through the jump and enjoy one of Scissor Sisters best videos.
