Members Of The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Converge, And More Form Supergroup

I’ve said a thousand times that it constantly shocks me how seemingly every musician knows every other musician on the scene. I think that’s why projects and supergroups seem to be more and more common; this one must be between friends and it has a wide array of genres covered by everyone’s original band. The lineup? Max Cavalera (vocalist/guitarist from Soulfly and Sepultra), Troy Sanders (bassist/vocalist for Mastodon), Greg Puciato (vocalist for Dillinger Escape Plan), Nate Newton (bassist for Converge), and Dave Elitich (drummer from The Mars Volta).

That seems to be a whole lot of bassists and vocalists, so who knows who will really be playing what instrument, although it is known all three singers will share vocalists. What an odd combination: you have punk, metal, prog, and alternative rock all in that mix. The release should be recorded in January, so we can probably expect a 2013 release. No word yet on the name of the project, but it is expected to be metal overall and we’ll keep you updated as we know more.

What do you make of the project? Let us know in the comments.
