Young Statues Announces Cover EP

Philadelphia indie act Young Statues have announced that the band will be releasing a brand new EP, a 7-inch release titled Covers.  The band will be covering four different tracks on the new record, set to be released on December 4 via Run For Cover Records.

The band have already released one of the new tracks, a cover of Billy Bragg’s “A New England”, featuring Brianna Collins of Tigers Jaw. To give the song a spin simply click here and be sure to head through the jump to view a statement from frontman Carmen Cirignano on the upcoming EP.

1. A New England feat. Brianna Collins (Billy Bragg)
2. Ashes & Fire (Ryan Adams)
3. California Girls (The Magnetic Fields)
4. Age Of Consent (New Order)

For me, doing cover songs was a fun and welcomed challenge. It was a way to tap into artists and styles that really influence us, and learn about what made this music stand out. These songs were covered in particular because they are simply a few of my favorite songs. Also, we wanted to do try a few new things in the studio, which are the reasons behind the duet with Brianna and the synth heavy “Age of Consent”. We picked songs that we felt would be fun and challenging at the same time.
