Well color me unsurprised, here. Previously, TMZ had two run ins with Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford, both in random Los Angeles parking lots, in which Tim basically insinuated (in a joking way) that a new RATM album may have been in the works. Now, Tom Morello has used his swift foot of rebellion to crush our hopes of a new album.
He said the band has “no plans beyond” their upcoming re-release of their debut album, this time called XX for its twentieth anniversary. He told that to Billboard, who also asked if the band had plans to re-release other albums, where Tom responded with “One at a time, man! The good news is that we’ve got time to think about it. I think the next one (‘Evil Empire’) came out in ’96, so there’s four years to decide on that… There have been a lot of shows recorded professionally, but there are not unreleased songs.”
I guess there goes those dreams. From the sound of it, this may even be the end of the band doing shows. Maybe not, but you can take the official word for what it is: Rage Against the Machine has no plans.
