EXCLUSIVE: Sworn In Discuss Linkin Park Cover; Share Studio Photos

Sworn In recently spent time in the studio recording a killer rendition of Linkin Park’s smash hit, “A Place In My Head.” PropertyOfZack gave fans their first preview of the track yesterday, and today UTG has the story behind the song, as well as a few exclusive studio photos.

When asked about the story behind their decision to record this cover, Vocalist Tyler Dennen offered the following thoughts:

We chose Linkin Park to cover because growing up it was one of the most influential bands we had, personally I remember buying Hybrid Theory at Best Buy with my dad and listening to it for hours straight. We we’re completely tired of seeing bands in our genre covering “radio” songs or doing “pop goes punk” so we took it a different direction. We also felt it fit our sound because our new cd is going in a more nu-metal direction, and we’ve always had fast paced almost rap style vocals.

As a band we’ve been moving forward fast, we just got back from our 2 week east coast tour which was amazing. We’re finishing up our cd and getting all of the pre-production stuff done. Our cd “The Death Card” which will be out hopefully in the 1st quarter of 2013 will really show our growth as a band. We started out a little more than a year ago with our EP “Catharsis”, which, if you listen in contrast with our latest single “A Song For the Nameless” you wouldn’t believe the change. The Death Card displays our progression and maturation as a band and as people, and deals lyrically with some heavy subject matter. Thats all we can really say as of now aside from it will be the darkest thing you’ve heard. After going through at least 10 line up changes we are completely set on this one, and it finally works. We have moved from a 4 piece to a 5 piece, picking up Sean Banks, our new bass player. Kenny moved back to guitar. Within this year we’ll have our cd completely finished and out, and will be touring the US as much as possible, and are looking forward to it. Get stoked on it.
