Nine Inch Nails Best-Of Coming In 2014 With Two New Songs, Album To Follow

Trent Reznor has stayed pretty busy lately between writing soundtracks and hanging out with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme, both of whom he appears on the new Queens of the Stone Age record and Dave Grohl’s documentary with. The Nine Inch Nails front man has told the New Yorker that he’s planning a best-of compilation. In the article’s own words, “In 2014, Interscope Records will release an edition of the band’s greatest hits, to which Reznor intends to contribute two new songs. Then he plans to write music for a new record.” Nine Inch Nails fans, rejoice; this is the first time an article has given us a concrete timeline for future NIN music.

Reznor also went on to explain what his hush-hush collaboration with Dr. Dre is: a new streaming song service that adds a human element to it rather than relying on a computer algorithm for song suggestions like Pandora. I was kind of hoping Dr. Dre and Trent Reznor were forming some weird supergroup. Either way, new Nine Inch Nails means Trent fans are happy.

I’m not surprised it’s happening; Interscope probably has the rights to do so. What surprises me is that Trent would write two new songs for it…
