Lostprophets Frontman Ian Watkins Denied Bail Over Sexual Offense Charges; Description Of Charges Made Public

This story is far from over, and it looks like things are only going to get worse.

Earlier today UTG brought you news that Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins had been “charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with female under 13 and possession of indecent images,” and now we’ve learned the vocalist has been denied bail and must remain in custody until December 31.

There are a dozen news sites claiming exclusives, so here’s what we know now from our various reads:

35-year-old Ian Watkins from Pontypridd, Wales, appeared in a Cardiff magistrates court earlier today, facing six charges relating to sexual offences against children, including a charge of attempting to rape a one-year-old and the possession and distribution of indecent images of youngsters. He is accused of conspiring with two women to engage in sexual activities with minors as well as possessing indecent images, including possessing “extreme” animal pornography. All three defendants will appear before Cardiff Crown Court at the end of the month.

Lostprophets released a statement on their website on Monday announcing that they have been forced to cancel their upcoming dates in Russia and Japan citing a “critical illness” in the band. No member has commented on the news of the charges against Watkins, but we’re assuming a statement of some kind will surface before the end of the week.
