“18 years, 18 years, She got one of your kids got you for 18 years” – Kanye West on his 2005 single, “Gold Digger”
Just when you thought major celebrity announcements in 2012 were said and done, Kanye West goes and tells the world to expect the first baby West in 2013.
Performing in Atlantic City this weekend, Kanye revealed to a packed house that girlfriend Kim Kardashian is now pregnant with the couple’s first child. In true Kanye fashion, he abruptly stopped his own performance to ask the crowd to cheer for his “baby mama Kim” before quickly jumping back into the track. According to E! Online, Kim is about 12 weeks along at this point, which means a Summer birth is likely.
Shortly after the news began to break on Twitter, fans and fellow celebrities began tweeting their congratulations, smartass replies, and illuminati conspiracies for the rest of us to enjoy. Many sites are running a collection of people like Malik Yusef an Khloe Kardashian tweeting their congrats to the couple, but we’re choosing to go another route. For the record, Kim is worth around $38 million on her own.
Knowing Kimye, or rather the way the mainstream press loves to invade their every private moment, this is only the beginning of what will surely be one of the most covered things in pop culture in 2013. God help us.
But seriously, Kanye has never hidden his love for Kim, and it’s exciting to see him so happy to be headed towards fatherhood. As soon as he releases a track about it, or goes on another ridiculous rant via performance or social platform, we’ll update you.
