Sonny Moore hasn’t made his complete list of New Year’s Resolutions available to the public at this time, but I’m guessing one of the entries must be “Surprise my fans and the EDM listening public at large”. It’s likely sandwiched in between “Get a haircut” and “Invest in some cooler, more advanced knobs for twiddling”.
How else does one explain the fact that Moore, more popularly known in some circles as Skrillex, just dropped the Leaving EP without advance notice and to little fanfare?
That’s right, Skrillex has a brand new EP out, and we’ve got the details and the stream after the jump.
The Leaving EP sees Moore dipping his toes into unorthodox music distribution channels; the EP is only available for purchase to users who subscribe to OWSLA’s music subscription service The Nest.
“[T]his is not about changing the music industry now,” says Moore in a statement on The Nest. “[I]t’s about supporting great and forward thinking tools like drip.fm to connect us on a more personal level. [T]he fact that we have a direct way to give you guys content without any of the red tape that the normal distribution mediums have makes it really easy fun for us and gives us a new platform to be creative and spontaneous.”
The Nest costs subscribers $12 a month. In exchange for the monthly fee, members of The Nest will be privy to advance OWSLA releases, DJ tools, and other assorted goodies.
Head over to The Nest to pick up a copy of the Leaving EP. If you’re not sure you wanna cop that, then you can stream the Leaving EP below via Skrillex’s Youtube channel.
