Yesterday evening we brought you news that metal favorites Protest The Hero were seeking funding for the recording of their fourth studio album. As of noon today, that goal has not only been met, but surpassed. At the time of posting, the group’s Indiegogo account was already at $25,656.
Protest The Hero’s success with fan funding is the second such tale to cross the newswire this week. Just days ago New York singer/songwriter Kevin Devine managed to raise $50,000 for the recording and promotion of two full length releases. Those interested in supporting his efforts can do so here.
Whether you’re for or against bands asking fans for money, it is becoming increasingly clear that it is a method of fundraising that is not leaving the scene anytime soon. If you have a project you’re trying to fund, contact us and we’ll do our best to draw attention to your listing (within reason).
