Max Bemis (Say Anything) Writing Comic Book

Max Bemis, best known for fronting (and now that Coby Linder’s left, essentially being) Say Anything, has referenced having some big plans this year beyond Say Anything. He has a child on the way, he’s opened up his song shop with his wife, and now he’s got a comic book from Boom Studios titled Polarity coming out in April.

Max talked about how the comic would be highly influenced by his time in Brooklyn fighting bipolar disorder, saying the series involves “…finding out I have bipolar, dealing with the disease, being in denial that I had it, screwing off and then eventually taking responsibility of it. That was sort of a drama in and of itself, so in crafting this main character, my goal is to create the ultimate archetype of a guy like me dealing with this.” The character also has super powers that get stronger as his disorder gets worse. Each comic book comes with an exclusive song.

Honestly, when I first heard about this, I felt mixed, but the more I read about it, the more I’m open to it and crave the debut issue. If you’re intrigued by the idea at all, the USA Today has the full scoop here.
