WATCH: Guns N’ Roses – “Paradise City” From Upcoming 3D DVD ‘Appetite For Democracy’

There is so much heartbreak in writing this article. As someone who didn’t get into anything beyond radio music until his late teens (and I mean late), there is still a spot in my heart for Guns N’ Roses. Part of me wants (or wanted) to see them live, reunion lineup or no, just so I could have seen these songs sung live by a no-longer-fat Axl Rose.

Now, modern Guns N’ Roses have a live DVD coming up, filmed in 3D because apparently nothing says “music” like guitars coming towards you slightly while wearing glasses. They released a video featuring “Paradise City” from the horribly titled Appetite For Democracy, and you have to see it. The problem is, you don’t have to see it because it’s so good. You have to see it because Axl can’t hold out his voice for long, and sounds like a genuinely old man who smokes cigars, goes to strip clubs every night, and never received any vocal training. Maybe he is all of those things, I don’t know; what I do know is that this was an entertaining watch… and a reminder that I probably made the right financial choice in not buying GnR tickets.

The performance is from November 21, 2012. No word on when the full DVD will be released. Watch the footage – complete with a really good guitar solo (not sarcasm), a mediocre Axl Rose (not sarcasm), and a stripper (not sarcasm) – after the break.
