Does Common Think ‘Cruel Winter’ Is Happening? “Oh, Yeah, Nah, Nah.”

Common, why you gotta be such a downer?

The literate rapper recently spoke with Vulture in an interview that focused primarily on his actorly pursuits. Did you know that Common is starring in an indie movie that was described by its director as, “Pursuit of Happyness punched in the face with Training Day”?

I wish more movies were conceived of as conflicts between existing properties. How much would you pay to see Home Alone 2 caught in an arm bar by Sin City? Is Eat, Pray, Love getting scissor kicked by The Dark Knight Rises worth downloading?

Anyways, Common did reflect on some upcoming projects he had in the works with the likes of Hit-Boy, No-ID, 88 Keys, and Travi$ Scott. Then the line of questioning turned to G.O.O.D. Music.

Vulture: “Does G.O.O.D. Music really have a Cruel Winter album coming?”

Common: “Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don’t think that’s happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody’s been doing their solo album. So that’s what that is.”

Get a load of buzzkillington over here. Let’s just hope that Common is being coy. Q-Tip had hinted back in September that Cruel Winter was in the process of coming together. Besides, it’s not like Kanye West has anything coming up in the next few months that could sideline him from completing the followup to Cruel Summer. Oh, wait.

Crap.
