We post a lot of hip hop, but as a rule of thumb we do our best to steer clear of freestyles. It’s not that we don’t appreciate the artform, we definitely do, but every time we post one person’s verse we receive a few dozen messages from up and comers that think their verse is better. It’s exhausting and eats up too much inbox space that could be used by artists with their own original material to share, so we keep anything that could encourage such reaction to a minimum whenever possible. However, Jon Connor is not your normal artist, and his latest freestyle is anything but typical.

Being a Michigan native, Jon Connor has firsthand knowledge of the real struggles people face everyday. His music, while sometimes playing to the mainstream, often reflects this understanding and his new release is no different. Hopping on A$AP Rocky’s “Fuckin Problems” beat, Connor goes in about life, girls, love, and everything in between in under two minutes. His lines are poetry with more attitude, and you can experience the track after the jump.
