The Roots And Elvis Costello Recording LP Together

The Roots have always been a band to take chances with collaborations; they’ve done albums with John Legend and Betty Wright. Being Jimmy Fallon’s house band has lead them to meet some interesting artists, including Elvis Costello. After the second of his three performances on Fallon, Costello wanted to work with The Roots on something, and that something has turned out to be a full album in 2013. Ahmir Thompson, also known as ?uestlove, told BillboardIt was really love at first sight… The second time he came on, we surpassed the first one. So by the third time, he was like, ‘Let’s stop messing around and do something together.’” The LP, which currently has no title, is set to be the best dozen or so tracks out of about 20 recorded.

The Roots also intend to release their own studio album late this year or early in 2014. That album, titled & Then You Shoot Your Cousin, will be The Root’s first studio work since 2011’s Undun.
