Frank Ocean Won’t Press Any Charges Against Chris Brown

Frank Ocean will not be pursuing a case against Chris Brown, according to a statement posted to his Tumblr today.

Waxing philosophic on aggression and compassion, Ocean wrote that he would, “choose sanity” over the prospect of retribution against Brown for his alleged assault last week on Ocean in the parking lot of a recording studio.

Check out the full statement from Ocean after the jump.

as a child i thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. but as a man i am not a killer. i’m an artist and a modern person. i’ll choose sanity. no criminal charges. no civil lawsuit. forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. peace, albeit trite, is what i want in my short life. peace.

Frank, taking the high road and being the bigger man here. Commendable. Very zen.

This is great news for Brown. The troubled R&B entertainer is still on parole for his infamous assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 GRAMMY Awards ceremony. We’re not legal scholars here, but potentially instigating an assault with entourage in tow is probably a violation of said parole.

Brown handled the reflection period following the incident a bit differently. Shortly after the throw down became news, Brown posted a picture of Jesus Christ on the cross with the caption, “Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!” to Instagram. He has since blocked public access to his account on the photo-sharing service.
