HOLY SH!T: Disney Unveils Plans For Boba Fett, Young Han Solo Movies

Um, WOAH.

Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive scoop on some of the Walt Disney Company’s future machinations for the Star Wars franchise.

Apparently the company has some tentative plans to begin developing movies centered around two of the more beloved characters in the Star Wars canon, Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Can you say spin-offs?

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Han Solo film will focus on the origin story of the roguish smuggler and will take place some time between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. So are we looking at a wise cracking teen Han? A baby Chewy?! (I don’t know how old Chewbacca is or how wookie physiology works. Sorry.)

Details about the Boba Fett film are a bit harder to pin down. It might take place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, or maybe between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Or course, the story would center on Fett as a member of, “a rogue’s gallery of galactic scum”.

Both of the films have seasoned screenwriters preparing their respective treatments. Disney CEO Bob Iger is reporting that Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders Of The Lost Ark) and Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes) are drafting up the spin-offs. The pair will also have a hand in scripting part of the new Star Wars trilogy. The first entry in said trilogy, Star Wars Episode VII, will be directed by J.J. Abrams and will be based off a script by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine).

Further details at this time are scant and likely subject to change. Whatever development deal surrounding these spin-offs is reportedly still in the early stages and could be altered in any number of ways down the road. Ain’t It Cool News floated the possibility that wizened ass kicker Yoda would be the first to get a standalone feature. At this time, none of the spin-offs, purported or otherwise, has a set release date.

So what do you guys think? Speculate wildly on the quality of the young Han Solo and Boba Fett movies below. And don’t act like you won’t see both of them.
