James Blake Announces New Album ‘Overgrown’, Will Premiere First Single From The Album Tonight [UPDATE]

James Blake

Big news for all you artsy types and anglophiles. Muted sonic wunderkind James Blake has just announced the followup to his 2011 self-titled debut.

Pitchfork is reporting that the album will be titled Overgrown and will be released on April 8. Blake will also be releasing the first single from the album, entitled “Retrograde”, tonight on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show.

James, James, this is all happening so fast! We first heard your simmering, subtle jams way, way back almost two years ago. And you’ve come so far since then.

We remember when we saw that video of Kanye West rallying his production and music creation team and there you were, sitting among the likes of John Legend and Hit-Boy. Random! Awesome!

Here you are now, having moved up from A&M/Polydor for your last album to Republic for this one. You’re really running with the big boys now. We’re so proud.

Check out “The Wilhelm Scream” from James Blake below.

UPDATE: Here’s a radio rip of “Retrograde”, courtesy of the good people over at MTHRFNKR.
