Miguel is more than sexy croons and swoon inducing moves. As the visuals for Kaleidoscope Dream closer “Candles In The Wind” demonstrate, he’s also got a conscious edge.
“It’s so easy to ignore what’s right in front of us sometimes. I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life as I know it in the world that we live in,” Miguel said of the video for “Candles In The Wind”.
Indeed, the clip takes a harsh look at the urban condition revealing hope and hardship in equal measure. Like a somber Marvin Gaye and lyrics like, “may we all live long/ and may we all be brave/ and the bridges we burn/ only light our way”, “Candles In The Wind” makes it clear that Miguel believes more in people and humanity over any prevailing ideology. That’s not a bad message, as far as messages go.
