Well that was fast.
Dave Grohl, svengali of rock outfit Foo Fighters, has made it clear that his group’s hiatus is over. On February 20, while on stage at The BRIT Awards in London, Grohl told James Corden, the host of the event, “I return to Los Angeles tomorrow to start work on a Foo Fighters record”.
This isn’t completely shocking news. Grohl has hinted in recent weeks at upcoming activity from the Fighters. In January, while promoting his Sound City documentary at Sundance, Grohl told MTV that, “But we have a plan, we know exactly what’s coming next,” in regards to a then-speculative eighth album from the Foo Fighters. Grohl did not mention any sort of release date information, only noting at The BRIT Awards that new music from his band would come out, “eventually”.
The group originally announced their hiatus back in October. Foo Fighters’ last full length release was 2011’s Wasting Light.
