MUSIC VIDEO: Killswitch Engage – “In Due Time”

The Return of Jesse Leach

Everyone knows that under the flinty, brooding exterior of a metalhead lies a friendly, nougaty center. Case in point, the music video for “In Due Time”. The visuals for the new single from from rough-hewn brutes Killswitch Engage sees the band just being their beardy selves.

Does that mean a lot of lavish shots of Killswitch riffing, screaming, and generally thrashing about? You bet your ass it does. But the clip also mixes in footage from the “filming of” portion of the shoot, showcasing the band and friends having a grand old time together. Like, did you know that the guys in the band did each other’s makeup for the shoot? Of the music video, vocalist Jesse Leach said, “We had our actual crew and friends in the shoot to create a natural vibe. So what you see is what we are: a band and a family that doesn’t take ourselves too seriously.” It’s equal parts heartwarming and heart-rending, really.

Did I mention that the music video is lavish? The music video never leaves the soundstage over the course of the shoot, but this has to be one of the best looking videos I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Check out the video for “In Due Time” over at Rolling Stone. “In Due Time” is the first single from Disarm The Descent, due on April 2 on Roadrunner Records. Pre-order the album here.
