The New ‘To The Wonder’ Trailer Has Us Longing For Love With Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams

Though some will still argue that it is greatly misunderstood, chances are more likely than not that you too felt Terrence Malick’s Tree Of Life was a jumbled mess of a movie. Critics seemed to love it, but for general audiences the film’s vague attempts to tackle some of the bigger questions about existence fell on deaf ears under a sea of slick visuals and confusing plot turns. The jury is still out for Malick’s latest, To The Wonder, but after viewing the following trailer it seems the time may have come to give the filmmaker another chance.

Opening April 12, To The Wonder brings together Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams for a tale of love that will probably be unlike anything else hitting cinemas this year. Early reports from festivals liken it to a better, more cohesive version of Tree Of Life, and it’s not hard to tell why by looking at the latest trailer. Malick’s signature eye for cinematography leaps out of nearly every frame, but the actual scenes revealed make little-to-no sense. It’s largely a collection of engaging one-lines and beautiful scenery, but there is something so damn gorgeous about the whole thing it’s hard to not be curious about the rest. You can view the trailer after the jump.

According to the film’s IMDB, the plot of To The Wonder is as follows:

After visiting Mont Saint-Michel, Marina and Neil come to Oklahoma, where problems arise. Marina meets a priest and fellow exile, who is struggling with his vocation, while Neil renews his ties with a childhood friend, Jane.

After you view the trailer, comment below and let us know your thoughts on To The Wonder. Will Affleck and McAdams bring sanity to Malick’s enchanting world of lush visuals? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
