STREAM: Little Daylight – “Overdose” (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Cutesy indie pop outfit Little Daylight are no strangers to reworking tracks, but recently their own ultra fun single, “Overdose,” has gotten quite the dosage of remix treatment itself.

One particular standout version of the hit song comes from “wise beyond their years and aggressively handsome” New York City duo, The Chainsmokers, who’ve taken the somewhat subdued dance jam and tweaked it to a more club-friendly alternative. It certainly has us smiling and dancing and we can’t imagine that it won’t have you doing the same.

“Overdose” came about ’cause we heard Little Daylight’s song at a party and we looked them up and shot them an email and were thrilled when they were into the idea as they were looking for someone to do a more up-tempo remix. So we thought about it and wanted to make the song very warm and with uplifting chords and chop the vocal up a bit and we’ve been really into this indie progressive mesh of sound that drops but is more animated. Then we thought instead of the usual house structure we would do something a bit funkier and keep the song evolving as it unfolds, so it starts out a bit simple with the vocals bleeding in over some warm drums but then ends in this entirely different place.
