I Killed The Prom Queen Part Ways With Drummer JJ Peters

I Killed The Prom Queen announced this morning that drummer JJ Peters is parting ways with the group. He will be using the time to focus more on his other band, Deez Nuts.

Read official statements from the band, drummer JJ Peters, and IKTPQ’s own Jona Weinhofen right here. UTG wishes JJ the best of luck.

It’s been a big few months for IKTPQ and we have a few announcements to make. Firstly, we regrettably announce that JJ Peters is no longer with I Killed The Prom Queen. JJ will focus 100% of his time on Deez Nuts in future. Peters was one of the founding members of IKTPQ upon our inception in 2000 and has played on every IKTPQ tour and release to date. We absolutely love him and wish him all the best.

JJ Peters commented:

Dear friends, fans and IKTPQ supporters, after nearly 13 years playing drums in IKTPQ I’m sad to say ill be leaving the band to pursue other projects. While prom queen was on a long hiatus I embarked on other musical projects and ventures that over that time became my full time life and livelihood. Now that IKTPQ has reformed as a full-time band I simply do not have the time for both this, and prom queen.

In my years playing with IKTPQ I made music, friends and traversed the globe with my brothers. These experiences have shaped my life and made me the person I am today. Everything that has happened in my life from the bands inception up till this point, has been directly or indirectly as a result of IKTPQ in one way or another and for that I’m truly grateful.

I want to thank anyone who’s supported IKTPQ and myself over the years, anyone who toured with us, shared a stage with us, gave us a place to stay, came out to a show, bought a CD, bought a shirt or even downloaded our shit for free. You all made it possible for me to live the life that I love.

Most importantly id like to thank all the current and past members of IKTPQ for living this dream with me. The adventures we shared, the good and bad, the ups and downs, are all something only we will ever truly know, and for that reason those are memories I cherish the most.

I wish my brothers the best of luck and I know this new chapter for IKTPQ will bring amazing things for them and I, like those of you reading, am exited to see what the coming years bring for I Killed The Prom Queen.

much love.

yours sincerely, JJ Peters

Jona Weinhofen commented:

JJ Peters is my oldest & closest friend in the entire world. We went to high school together, we’ve played together in bands prior to IKTPQ and I believe we will continue to work together in the future. Its sad to think that he will no longer be a part of IKTPQ but I know he’s going to continue to kill it with DN and anything else musical that he touches.

Upon JJ’s departure, we’d like to welcome our good friend Shane O’brien (formerly of Confession, Buried In Verona) as our new drummer. We’ll be continuing to write the new album with Shane and he will accompany us on our upcoming Spring USA tour with Asking Alexandria and all future tours.

We are also super excited to announce that I Killed The Prom Queen has teamed up with managers John Youngman and Mark Mercado at Fly South Music Group (Paramore, A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, etc.) based in the United States. Fly South will handle management for all worldwide territories (excluding Australia).

We will have a lot more massive news in the coming months so stay tuned and thanks again for supporting IKTPQ!
