CONFIRMED: The Flaming Lips And Ke$ha Working On Collaborative Album ‘Lip$ha’

I believe we may have a winner for the strangest news item of the week.

During a recent Reddit AMA, frontman Wayne Coyne informed fans that The Flaming Lips are currently working on a collaborative album with pop superstar Ke$ha entitled, Lip$ha. The pairing may seem odd to some, but Ke$ha previously worked with the Lips on “Heady Fwend.” You can read an excerpt from the AMA mentioning the release, as well as the answer to whether or not glitter can be found in Ke$ha’s blood, below:

What was it like working with Ke$ha?
“She is a blast on all levels. She’s funny, she’s humble. She’s badass. She’s everything. She’s awesome. We’re actually already working on an album with her. It’s called Lip$ha.”

Does Wayne still have any of Ke$ha’s blood? If so, how glittery is it?
“Yes and it’s VERY glittery. It came out of vagina that way. That’s the truth.”

No additional details regarding Lip$ha were mentioned during the AMA. That said, those interested in learning more about Coyne’s AMA in general can stop by Spin for a selection of highlights from the event. We will bring you more information on Lip$ha as soon as it becomes available.

He may just be talking about a release of the tracks The Flaming Lips produced for Warrior, since only Past Lives made it onto the album. Wayne did say before he wanted those songs released. If they are doing a full length album that’s great but I’ll be happy with an EP of the songs they already did for Kesha’s album if that’s what he’s actually referring to.
