LISTEN: James Blake Feat. RZA – “Take A Fall For Me”

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding James Blake lately. Earlier this week, news surfaced that Blake could potentially be working with Kendrick Lamar in the near future. Today another track from James Blake’s new album, Overgrown, appeared online.

“Take A Fall For Me” features RZA rapping over a laid back beat, which creates yet another perfect marriage between the hip-hop and indie worlds. James Blake lets RZA primarily take the reins on the track, but the English musician’s production shouldn’t be overlooked. Yesterday James Blake unleashed the bonus track, “Every Day I Ran” which features samples from rapper Big Boi’s 2008 single, “Royal Flush.”

There is an apparent connection and appreciation James Blake shows for the hip-hop community, but this isn’t the first time indie artist have collaborated with prominent rappers. Indie rocker’s DOM teamed up with Gucci Mane back in 2011, and of course Bon Iver worked with Kanye West on his Grammy Award winning, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and we all know how that turned out. If the James Blake and Kendrick Lamar rumors come to fruition, I’ll be the first one in line to buy the record.

“Take A Fall For Me” featuring RZA can be heard below.

The new album, Overgrown is due out on Polydor and Universal Republic Records on April  9.
