REVIEW: Let’s Talk Daggers – Fantastic Contraption

Let's Talk Daggers

Artist: Let’s Talk Daggers
Album: Fantastic Contraption
Label: Tangled Talk Records

Let’s Talk Daggers have done something on their latest release, Fantastic Contraption, most bands in the experimental/technical musical genres only wish they could accomplish: brilliantly artistic chaos.  The record strikes the perfect balance between creativity and instrumental madness.  Each song is constructed to make both fans of Faith No More and The Number Twelve Looks Like You happy.

The band mirrors many occult greats on Fantastic Contraption, from The Locust-influenced opening track, “The Bear of Bad News,” to the early Fear Before The March of Flames sounding number, “Have a Gabble.”  The overall standout track on the record from the East Sussex trio is “#1 Spicy Burger.”  This particular track shows heavy rock and roll influence throughout its duration, with nice jazzy breaks to get the head movin’ in certain sections.  The track could contest with songs off The Jonbenet’s 2004 release, The Plot Thickens.

Let’s Talk Daggers have done something really cool with this record.  They extend their musicianship in a clever and timeless way throughout the listen.  But, then again, they’ve always known how to make great music across the pond, right?

Rating: 9/10
