Jay-Z Returns To Music With “Open Letter”

Jay-Z hasn’t left the celebrity spotlight in two decades, but the man who gave us Reasonable Doubt in the 90s has been relatively quiet for the better part of the last year. There are many reasons for this, including the birth of his daughter with singer Beyonce (who also recently returned to music), but it’s an absence that has been felt nonetheless.

Well hip hop fans, it’s time to collectively dry our eyes because Hova has returned in glorious fashion with “Open Letter.” Featuring production from Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, the first solo track from Jigga in over a year updates fans on everything Jay has been up to during his time away, including his controversial trip to Cuba and recent decision to sell his stake in the Brooklyn Nets. You can stream the track below.

This is the first time we’ve heard of a new Jay record being in the works, and to be honest I can’t think of the last time a major celebrity made such an announcement in song. Even if it has I doubt it sounds as dope as it does coming from Jay-Z.

What are your thoughts on “Open Letter”? Comment below and let us know if you’re excited to hear another album from Jay-Z later this year.
