Beck Announces Short Acoustic Tour

Beck Hansen, perhaps best known to some as a “Loser” in the 90s (see-what-I-did-there), hasn’t released an album since 2008’s Modern Guilt, unless you count last year’s book of sheet music, Song Reader, as an album. Obviously, Beck is known for doing some unusual things. Today, Pitchfork let the world know that Beck has been working on another studio record and is going on a solo acoustic tour this summer.

Beck has not gone on tour in several years, and this being a solo acoustic tour makes some sense — not because of the material he’s writing, but because several members of what was his band have moved on to other things. Hardcore fans may remember that Josh Klinghoffer, former Gnarls Barkley member and current Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist, was in his band, as well as Justin Meldal-Johnsen, producer for Paramore and a famed session musician, who was his bassist.
