Sean Kingston Debuts “Beat It” Featuring Chris Brown And Wiz Khalifa

Pop master Sean Kingston has returned to the world of Top 40 to release his latest single, “Beat It.”

Featuring appearances from genre heavyweights Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa, “Beat It” is a Summer-ready anthem about hooking up with a sexy lady who wants you to, well, “beat it.” The production of the track is flawless, with plenty of bass and snare to go around, but the song hits rocky waters as soon as the verses begin. The chorus hits hard, but it’s redundant, and weak verses from everyone except Khalifa gives you little to appreciate about the final product. By the time you get to Wiz, your interest in ever hearing the song has almost vanished, but it’s a solid verse nonetheless. You can stream the song and its official video at the end of this post.

Let’s face it: Sean Kingston will probably never top the success he found with “Beautiful Girls.” That single went beyond the normal definition of success and become an integral part of pop culture, which is an accomplishment few musicians ever achieve. “Beat It” is nothing like “Beautiful Girls,” and that goes double in the areas that matter most (catchiness, mass appeal, replay value), but I think he still has a few hits left in him. Let’s hope whatever follows this release is better.
