The Dodos Set to Release New Album; Premiere New Track

The Dodos have teamed up with Polyvinyl Records to release their new album, Carrier, due out August 27. It’s slated to be the fifth album by the San Francisco natives, and the follow-up to their 2011 release, No Color.

The leader of the band, Meric Long, was deeply affected by the death of Christopher Reimer, who played guitar with the band, but unexpectedly passed away in his sleep early 2012. Long says, “Chris was a huge influence on the way I think about guitar, songwriting, and music in general. Seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to explore more tones and use those tones to begin writing a song.”

The finished product resulted in what Polyvinyl Records is calling, “eleven songs that are beautiful and solid and true and honest.” In wake of the new album announcement, the band premiered the track, “Confidence,” which is scheduled to be their lead single. You can hear the new track below.

Pre-orders are now available via Polyvinyl Records here.
