The world of rock and roll is up in arms this morning over news the Stone Temple Pilots may have finally found a fitting replacement for troubled frontman Scott Weiland.
Last night, STP made a surprise appearance at KROQ’s Weenie Roast music festival in Irvine, California fronted by Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. The group ran through their hits, all with Bennington behind the mic, and this morning a new single featuring his vocals has found its way online. You can stream that song, which is entitled “Out Of Time,” at the end of this post.
If you had told me a week ago that Chester would potentially be filling in Scott Weiland’s shoes I would have probably asked what narcotics you were currently addicted to. However, having heard “Out Of Time” I realize now there is no better fit than Bennington in this band. His vocals were made for this kind of music, and I sincerely hope there is more to come in the weeks ahead. Comment below and let us know what you think of “Out Of Time.”
A press release was sent out this morning accompanying the new song. In it, the members of STP comment that Bennington was at the top of the list when it came to finding a new singer. “Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time,” said Dean DeLeo. “We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”
