UTG PHOTOS: Skate & Surf Day Two (5/19/13)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Corbin Alvae, to New Jersey for Skate & Surf Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure.

Day Two…Once again, what a line-up! This time around I don’t have a funny story (sad, I know) but it did do one thing…RAIN! Like Day One, it was on and off, but wasn’t too bad. Anyways! I kicked Day Two off with Ohio metal band, Dangerkids. Holy shit! I heard some buzz about them, ended up checking out their music online, really impressed! First time seeing them live, blew me away! Energy filled to the max, catchy tunes. Definitely a band to catch when they come to your town. After that I moved over to the Aquarian Better stage to catch my good friends in I Am King. Nothing really to say, except that they put on an absolutely phenomenal show. Always great to see some familiar faces while far from home. Next up I went over to the main stage for New York rock band, Bayside. Never seen them live before, but I enjoyed their performance. After Bayside, I went back over to the Aquarian Big Stage for Ohio “Loud” band, Beartooth. I’ve heard all the hype about them, seen videos of their performance and holy hell was I impressed! So far that band has one of my favorite stage shows. Full of energy and just straight up wild. After that I walked back over to the main stage for New Jersey natives, Saves The Day. Another band that I have never seen live before, really enjoyed them as well. After them, literally had to run straight back to the Aquarian Big stage for Ohio metal band, My Ticket Home. I had them here in Michigan for an event a couple weeks before the festival, straight killed it! Same thing a couple weeks later, the band did the same thing; just destroyed that stage. After that I took a little breather and relaxed a bit before heading back over to the main stage for post-hardcore band, Glassjaw. I listened to them a lot over the years and have always dug their music. Performance wise, incredible! After Glassjaw, I remained at the main stage for Billboard winning artist for “Top Rap Song”, Macklemore. As soon as I heard the bass kick in, I already knew it was going to be a party. Definitely a performance not to miss! Once again, stayed at the main stage for the headliner of the night, A Day To Remember. ADTR was my jam back in the day when I used to play music (I was a drummer) and being able to see them live thinking “you guys influenced me so much as a teenager and got me through a lot with your music.” ADTR definitely put on a memorable performance that night that the fans wont forget.

Overall, Skate & Surf Day Two was a perfect way to end my weekend; the line-up was great, the fans were incredible and everything ended on a perfect note.
