UTG PHOTOS: ALKALINE TRIO (5/28/13)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to House of Blues Cleveland for Alkaline Trio on May 28, 2013.

I was excited at the prospect of an Alkaline Trio tour for a few reasons. I love that bands like Bayside and Alkaline Trio are not only still touring and playing music, but releasing killer new albums and selling out venues in the process. These bands remind me of my high school days, which hold sweet memories of bands such as these, up close and personal shows at intimate venues, and blasting anything related to rock. Both Alkaline Trio and Bayside are also among many exceptional bands that held a special place on my iPod…. aka first generation iPods, anyone? Now that I’m aging myself….

Opening for Alkaline Trio on this tour was the always impressive Bayside.  This was now my fourth time shooting Bayside and they always bring an immense passion to the stage.  Bayside was a great pairing with Alkaline Trio for a tour oozing with nostalgia.  These talented guys tore up the stage as always, interacted with the onslaught of crowd surfers, and played a variety of tunes both old and new for those in attendance.

Headlining the show was Chicago natives Alkaline Trio, who took the stage to a wild, sold out venue.  They recently released their eighth full length studio album on April 2, titled My Shame Is True and played many new tunes from this release.  After a lengthy and impressive set from this trio of extremely talented musicians, Alkaline Trio ended with an encore of “Radio” from 2000’s release, Maybe I’ll Catch Fire.  Check out all the photos below from this sold out show!
