Metro Station Raise Less Than 1/5 Of Indiegogo Campaign Goal, Releasing EP in August

If you’re going to go out on a limb and ask people for money to support your dream, what do you do if they don’t respond the way you had hoped? If you’re Metro Station, the answer is simple: Release the album anyways.

You may remember a story earlier this year about Metro Station launching an Indiegogo campaign to fund the recording and release of a comeback EP. The group asked for $50,000, but when the campaign ended on May 14 they had only managed to raise $8,105. No press releases were sent out, no updates from the band emerged, and I can speak for a number of bloggers when I say we thought the band was finished. Until yesterday.

According to a new press release, which claims the band is “back and better than ever,” Metro Station will release a new EP entitled Middle Of The Night on August 20 of this year. The release goes on to say that the band is currently working on summer and fall tour plans, but curiously fails to ever mention the crowdfunding campaign or the 8k donated by fans to make the project a reality.

The first single from Middle Of The Night is titled “Every Time I Touch You” and is expected to premiere online soon. In the meantime, click through the “Read more” link at the end of this post to watch a fan-shot live performance of the song from earlier this year.

Call me crazy, but if you raise less than 20% of a campaign meant to fund the “relaunch” of your band it may be a sign your plan is a bad one. Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
