Westboro Baptist Church Member Comments On The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Album, Band Responds

Everyone needs a little controversy in their lives, right? Westboro Baptist Church member Steve Drain has sparked an internet firestorm after commenting on The Dillinger Escape Plan’s new album, One of Us Is the Killer.

Drain, who is a longtime member of the church (even appearing in the documentary, The Most Hated Family In America), recently commented online that he thinks the members of Dillinger Escape Plan “need a hug” after hearing material from their recently released album. His full comment reads:

“Dude needs a hug. God has put his standard in the Earth, and all of the problems that this song tries to sound a ‘yawp’ about come as a result of the rampant disobedience of God. They have become vain in their imaginations and their foolish hearts were darkened. They worship the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.”

Comments like these are actually pretty tame when one considers it’s coming from someone known for holding ‘God Hates Fags’ signs, but the comments have been making their way around the net nonetheless. Recently, The Dillinger Escape Plan caught wind of Drain’s thoughts and offered the following response:

“Of all the great reviews we’ve seen of the new songs on ONE OF US IS THE KILLER, this one from the WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH may be the most informed and insightful.

Thanks to Kerrang! for playing “Prancer” for this obvious genius/scholar/expert theologian from the WB “church.”

Speaking of One Of Us Is The Killer, those interested in hearing what sparked such comments can purchase the album on iTunes, as well as every other music retailer who deal heavy music.
