Blur Attempting To Record Another Album

That headline is accurate, though don’t take it like a guarantee another album will come. Back in May, Blur‘s Damon Albarn said “So we have a week in Hong Kong, and we thought it would be a good time to try and record another record,” according to NME. What’s more than that, recently Alex James told BANG Showbiz‘We had a few days off in Hong Kong and thought, ‘What the hell, let’s go to the studio.’ It went very well. The opportunity came and we took it. Any chance to get together and make music is very welcome. It was absolutely brilliant. We were just jamming, but it was good. I hope it happens.’

Is that a guarantee of a new album? Absolutely not. The quote even ends with “I hope it happens,” but for a band that hasn’t done new material in ten years, maybe that’s the best we could hope for.

Blur reunited in 2009 for a performance at Hyde Park and wrote two new songs for said show. There were rumors of aborted studio attempts for years, so this wishy-washy confirmation that they are trying it again isn’t too surprising. IF there’s ever any more information on a follow up to 2003’s Think Tank, we’ll be the first to let you know.
