I wish more bands did things like this for Halloween. Phish is known to “be” other bands for Halloween, putting on what they call “musical costumes” and performing entire sets as a different band. That idea has spread to the New England indie scene, with The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die side-project One Hundred Year Ocean having performed as Modest Mouse back on Halloween in 2011. Video from that performance has surfaced online, and it’s a great watch.
One Hundred Year Ocean will have an EP release coming out later this summer titled Where Were You While We Were Getting High?; they recently released a free live album called It’s Not Punk But We Are Getting Close. You can find them here.
Just as entertaining as the covers and the set is the crowd. At one point, someone requests a different Modest Mouse song, to which One Hundred Year Ocean has to remind them they are not the actual Modest Mouse. To watch the show here, stick around after the break.

Phish NEVER has dressed up like the band they cover on Halloween. That’s simply incorrect.
