MOVIE REVIEW: Breakup At A Wedding

Breakup At A Wedding

Movie: Breakup at a Wedding
Director: Victor Quinaz
Writers: Anna Martemucci, Philip Quinaz, Victor Quinaz
Studio: Oscilloscope Laboratories

Oscilloscope Laboratories‘ new comedy Breakup at a Wedding is a hilariously fresh take on the insanity surrounding weddings as it offers a behind-the-scenes view of a wedding that is doomed from the start. Produced by American Horror Story and Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto, the film brilliantly combines well-timed comedy with the ‘found footage’ style of film making that is mainly seen in the horror genre.

Presented from the view of their wedding videographer (Victor Quinaz), Breakup at a Wedding follows the story of a young couple as they approach their wedding day. On the eve of the ceremony, Alison (Alison Fyhrie) gets cold feet and decides to break up with her fiancé, Phil (Philip Quinaz). But rather than face the embarrassment of calling off the ceremony, Alison suggests to Phil that they proceed with a sham wedding. Phil is more than game to try, secretly hoping that a surprise gift he has for Alison will ultimately change her mind. Yet once the guests begin to arrive, more complications ensue than either of them could have ever imagined – even if they did know their wedding was bullshit.

Interject some good old-fashioned family dysfunction and overly-rowdy groomsmen and you’ve got a recipe for hilarity. Breakup at a Wedding is so much more than your typical romantic comedy as our storyteller captures what is really at the core of marriage – insanity. With expertly pieced-together clips on hand to betray the notion that the couple has the wedding under control, the film has a really fun Arrested Development/Parks and Rec vibe that makes it a must-see for any demographic.

What will become of our loving, yet cold-footed couple? Well, you’ll just have to find out for yourself. Breakup at a Wedding opens on VOD Tuesday, June 18 or you can pre-order your copy right now.
