STREAM: A Great Big Pile Of Leaves – “Flying Fish”

Topshelf Records’ A Great Big Pile Of Leaves are set to release their new album, You’re Always On My Mind, on July 2, and as we’ve had the chance to listen to it (and have done so literally about 30 times), we can tell you that it’s hands down one of the best albums of the year. We just can’t get enough of it. The production, the nostalgic themes, the evolution of their songwriting — it’s all there. If you haven’t pre-ordered the album yet, you can do so here before the options sell out. We got the vinyl/t-shirt bundle because, well, why the hell not? That pizza slipmat is sweet!

The band just released a stream of one of the album’s tracks, “Flying Fish,” and you can listen to it here after the jump. With metaphorical lyrics alluding to being incredibly minuscule in the whole of this big world and a sound reminiscent of Highly Refined Pirates/They Make Beer Commercials Like This-era Minus The Bear, this track is sure to put a smile on your face and have you singing along to its catchy chorus in no time.

The band currently has roughly 15 tours dates lined up with support coming from Hospital Ships and The Front Bottoms on select dates. You can check out the dates here, and be sure to check back in with UTG in the coming weeks as we’ll be posting a review of You’re Always On My Mind and an exclusive interview with the band regarding the new album and more!
