UTG EXCLUSIVE: Dead Leaves – ‘Amend Regret’ EP Stream

In January of 2011, I saw North East Ohio pop punk band Call it Fiction play for the first time. The bill: Terrible Things, The Sleeping, and Bayside. Incredible show. Totally fantastic. I even blogged about it on my now decaying wordpress.com account.

I’ve since tallied my Call It Fiction concert experience to a healthy 5 or 6. In these past two and a half years, I’ve befriended the band, booked them shows, and reveled in their growing talent and passion. Imagine my disappointment, now, as I read the announcement on the bands’ Facebook page that they were breaking up. Utterly shocked, I hurriedly shot a text to guitarist Mat Colwell to see what was up. That’s when he filled me in on Dead Leaves, the band’s new moniker.

Officially adopting and announcing the change in April 2013, Dead Leaves entered June prepared with a brand new EP called Amend Regret, recorded by Nick Diener of The Swellers and mixed/mastered by Mark Mihalik. After the band set up and announced a release party at the Grog Shop in Cleveland on Saturday, June 22, I set out to claim the all-important Internet début. (Spoiler Alert: I got it.)

Those who enjoy the musical stylings of The Wonder Years, are growing into adulthood, self-reflect on occasion, or covet new music from hard-working bands that deserve it will most certainly like Amend Regret. Please enjoy the album below and find it on your favorite music outlet tomorrow for purchase. Without further ado… I present to you… Dead Leaves.
