Jay-Z Gearing Up For Surprise Concert in Times Square

Well, the cat’s out of the bag. The New York Post reports that Jay-Z is planning to perform a live concert atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater next month. Sources claim that the performance is scheduled to coincide with Jay-Z’s appearance on Late Show With David Letterman on July 8.

This marks the second time Jay-Z will attempt to perform a concert in this highly populated area. In 2010, the rapper and fellow hip-hop superstar, Eminem, attempted a similar scenario, but the plug was quickly pulled by officials due to security and crowd control issues. However, things seem to be looking positive this time around. A law-enforcement source spoke on the topic stating, “If he gets permission from the mayor’s office, it’s going to be off the hook. They’ll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They’ll have to have a strong police presence. It’s going to be chaos with so many fans.”

Jay-Z’s new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, arrives July 4th.
