Another week, another band asking for money.
Metal favorites As Blood Runs Black are the latest band to turn to the world of crowdfunding to get their new album off the ground. The band recently launched an IndieGogo account seeking $50,000, which they claim will be used “to make a new album, stay on the road, create full length DVDs, ramp up the live production, create fresh new merchandise options and much much more.” At the time of this post, a little less than $900 had been donated with 47 days still remaining.
There are a few elements of ABRB’s campaign that have struck us as odd. The band mentions a new album, but gives no indication of when they would record or when fans can expect the record to be released. They also list a number of items they want to make with the money, but offer no perks that offer said items. Does this mean fans will later be expected to buy the same live DVDs they funded? Surely ABRB are not in the market to take advantage of anyone, but they definitely need to take a second look at everything laid out on their campaign page.
