UTG PHOTOS: Rancid & The Transplants (6/20/13)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to shoot Rancid and The Transplants during their two-night stop in New York City on June 20, 2013.

Rancid is currently on tour with the The Transplants, which features Rancid’s very own frontman, Tim Armstrong. They played two fun-filled nights in a row to one of New York City’s venues, Terminal 5, to a packed crowd. This incredible tour celebrates Rancid’s 20 year anniversary as a band.

The band put on a punk rock performance, playing classics back from And Out Come The Wolves, Let’s Go, Indestructible, and the band’s most recent 2009 release, Let The Dominoes Fall. It was impressive to watch the dynamic that Tim Armstrong can have, performing with The Transplants alongside “Skinhead Rob” and Travis Barker, then taking the stage alongside Lars Frederiksen with equally as graceful chemistry. A special highlight from night one included a fan crowd surfing to the stage in a wheelchair, only to be lifted up by the band themselves and given a front row seat. Rancid also discussed their new record, which will be coming out in the near future, along with mention that they knocked the songs out live.

Between the live piano on The Transplant’s hit “Diamonds and Guns” and the references to Operation Ivy and Rancid fan tattoos, it was certainly a night to remember.
