TLC Return With New Album, Biopic, and Surprise Announcement

Earlier this morning the best selling female R&B group of all time, TLC announced their return to music. In a press conference at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City the storied group announced that they are set to release a currently untitled greatest hits album on October 15, which will feature several new songs. Two highlighted tracks will be “Meant to Be” featuring Ne-Yo and “Posh Life” featuring Lady Gaga. Drake has also been in talks to do a collaboration with the group.

Members of the media were treated to an exclusive preview of the new tracks.

When asked about having to compete with the changes in music over the last 10 years, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas replied, “There is a whole ‘nother generation who doesn’t know who we are. We know when music sounds trendy. We don’t want to go into the studio and create something that sounds like 5 other artists they have.”

The group also provided a first look at the upcoming VH1 Original movie, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, which will air October 21. Described as “the story of their life” by long time manager Bill Diggins, the band realized how much they missed writing, recording and interacting with their fans through the recreation of the outfits and stage settings.

The first step will take place this Saturday at the Mixtape Festival in Hersey, Pennsylvania. The actor playing Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopez, Niatia Jessica Kirkland, known as “Lil Mama,” will be performing with TLC in Hershey, Pennsylvania. When asked how they will move forward live without Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopez, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins says, “People will be talking after Saturday. We’ve got some surprises for you guys. No one else will ever be a member of this group. But, we’ve got plans.”

TLC is probably the most influential and successful R&B trio in history. The MOVIE LOOKS GREAT and Lil Mama is making a lot of great and positive changes in her career. I must say I’m really proud of her and TLC. RIP Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, her legacy will always exist.
