Kevin Devine Announces Tour, October Release For Both New LPs

kevin devine

You may recall Kevin Devine successfully crowdfunded his two upcoming albums six months ago. Today, he announced their titles and release dates: Bulldozer, which is fully solo record, and Bubblegum, his full band record produced by Brand New‘s Jesse Lacey, will both be released on October 15 on Devinyl Records (get it? Devine, Devinyl? Okay…), Devine’s imprint that partners Favorite Gentlemen and Procrastinate Music Traitors. In addition, early this morning, Devine streamed a new song, “Private First Class,” on our sister site AbsolutePunk. You can check that out here.

More news will likely come – both in further details of the record, and in other tricks Devine may have up his sleeve. In his own words, he says “It’d be dishonest to say you won’t be hearing from me/us again, often and soon. There’s a lot going on, and these are just the opening remarks. Frankly, I’ve never been more excited about anything in my career to this point; hopefully, that ends up being contagious.” Devine will go on a full tour with his Goddamn Band in support of Bubblegum, with an acoustic tour in support of Bulldozer to come in 2014. The support will be Now, Now and Harrison Hudson. To check out the full tour dates or read Devine’s full statement, click “Read more.”

Greetings, Team. I come to you with big news in big bunches.

The two albums many of YOU directly funded in semi-historic fashion (at least in our little corner of the playground) 5 months ago via an alarmingly successful Kickstarter campaign are FINISHED.

They’re written, recorded, mixed, mastered, art designed, and on their way to be manufactured.

Without further ado: meet Bulldozer (previously known as LP7, or “The (Rob) Schnapf record,” or “The solo record”) and Bubblegum (previously known as LP8, or “The Jesse (Lacey) record,” or “The Goddamn Band record”).

While everyone’s getting acquainted, enjoy your first taste of Bubblegum, “Private First Class” – exclusively streaming NOW at http://absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=3326791.

“Private First Class” and the rest of both Bulldozer & Bubblegum will be out October 15th, 2013 via our freshly minted (thanks to YOU) Devinyl Records imprint, in partnership with Favorite Gentlemen & Procrastinate Music Traitors (keeping it in The Family).

Three days later, The Goddamn Band and I will head out on the ‘2013 Bubblegum Fall U.S. Tour,’ joined across the country by Minneapolis’ mind-numbingly excellent Now, Now & our budding good buddy from Nashville, Harrison Hudson, with additional local support from city to city.

This first run will focus on material from Bubblegum and the “rockier” side of our back catalog (particularly Brother’s Blood, Split The Country, Split The Street, and parts of Between The Concrete & Clouds). The dates are listed below; Bulldozer will get its own focused tour sometime in 2014.

And that’s that. It’d be dishonest to say you won’t be hearing from me/us again, often and soon. There’s a lot going on, and these are just the opening remarks. Frankly, I’ve never been more excited about anything in my career to this point; hopefully, that ends up being contagious.

Enjoy & stay tuned,
Kevin
