Asking Alexandria Premiere “Poison”

Need a reason to start a mosh pit at your office or home? Look no further than the track at the end of this post.

Asking Alexandria have partnered with our friends over at Alternative Press to debut a stream of a new song entitled, “Poison.”

When vocalist Danny Worsnop became a drunken mess in front of fans last year, video of the event went viral in a matter of hours. Asking Alexandria have always been known for their hard-partying ways, but at that moment the fun came to an end and the way the band branded themselves began to change. “Poison” addresses this moment, as does the majority of Asking Alexandria’s new album From Death To Destiny, and fans hoping for insight on this strange time in the band’s career will certainly be pleased with the results.

Backed by a ferocity that rings familiar to anyone familiar with the band’s catalog, “Poison” hits you like a shotgun blast to the chest at close range. Worsnop swings from guttural growls to scratchy cleans and back again with ease, depicting his hardships and the struggle to overcome them at all costs. It may sound like typical metalcore noise on the surface, but there is definitely depth worth exploring, and when the final refrain hits it is near impossible to not join in.

We will launch our review of From Death To Destiny sometime over the weekend, but I will let you know right here and now that “Poison” is one of our favorite cuts off the record. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on Asking Alexandria’s new material.

Probabaly the best song on the album. That’s not saying much since they’ve done better but as a slipknot fan, this really jumps out at me.
