Asking For Money Is So Punk Rock It Is How ‘SLC Punk 2’ Will Try To Get Funded

To be an anarchist in Salt Lake City was certainly no easy task, especially in 1985. And having no money, no job, no plans for the future, the true anarchist position was in itself a strenuous job. – Stevo, SLC Punk (1998)

The team hoping to bring a sequel to SLC Punk to life have revealed plans to launch a kickstarter in order to fund the film’s production.

Breaking on Twitter over the last day, a number of people associated with SLC Punk 2, otherwise known as Punk’s Dead, have revealed their intentions to let crowdfunding software help make their movie dreams a reality. As star Matthew Lillard wrote, “We’re bout 2 raise our budget W/Kickstarter & we need an army of punk rock mofo’s 2 back us up. Hollywood is scarred. Are you?”

Though a number of potential supporters asked, no target goal or launch date has been revealed. We expect the official page to pop up soon, especially considering that rumors of a 2014 target release date persist, so keep an eye on UTG in the days ahead for additional information.
